    Department Summary:


    The mandate of the Human Resources department is to develop, implement and co-ordinate policies and programs related to: employment, employee relations, payroll, benefits, recruitment, internal communications and succession planning and employee development. The department ensures compliance with all employment standards and governing legislation.


    Role Purpose:


    The Talent (Learning & Development) team is responsible for needs analysis, designing, developing and implementing learning programs and strategies and for executing learning through a range of delivery media.  As part of the team, the Learning Consultant develops and implements the learning strategies, curriculum and programs that fit and deliver successful business outcomes using the ADDIE model including training needs analysis, design and development.  The Learning Consultant will focus on supporting the business on both long-term and short-term goals through the delivery of innovative learning strategies for new hire classes, cross training initiatives, and recurrent training.

    The Consultant will work with the HR team and business partners to incorporate learning strategies and leverage technology and tools in our New Hire Orientation and multi-leveled curriculum and learning programs. The Consultant reports directly to the Manager, Learning and Development.


    Role Accountabilities:


    • Foster strong relationships with managers in various departments in order to identify and address opportunities for our frontline employees
    • Supports managers, subject matter experts and departments with the planning and delivery of department specific learning activities
    • Liaison with corporate project leaders to ensure timely and consistent delivery of training material
    • Based on adult learning principles and best practice methodology, design, develop and deliver the curriculum, courses and offerings (online, social and in-class) that meet our business needs and making changes and enhancements as required based on customer feedback
    • Utilize various training methods including e-learning, webinars, self-paced, instructor-led, tutorial etc.
    • Facilitate and deliver key courses and programs
    • Develop, revise and maintain training manuals and materials
    • Partner with organizational leaders to recommend next steps for trainees: advancement, additional training opportunities, areas of concern, likelihood of success, etc.
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of training, track results and produce regular statistical reports and analysis
    • Models a coach-approach in interactions with managers and staff and promotes skill development in this area
    • Use and leverage NetDimensions (Learning Management System) to ensure accurate reporting of metrics and work with the team to analyze data on usage and impact of programs and initiatives through KPIs and LD metrics
    • Support the delivery of other HR programs and projects as required

    Minimum qualifications:                                                                                                                         

    • Education/Experience
      • Post-Secondary Education in Human Resources or related field
      • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in design and delivery of learning development programs
    • Professional Certification
      • Adult Education/Training Certificate preferred
    • Specialized Knowledge
      • Solid knowledge of Adult Learning Principles
      • Experience with learning management systems (Net Dimensions preferred)
      • Bilingual English/French preferred but not mandatory
    • Technical Skills
      • Strong computer skills in software including Microsoft Office suite, SharePoint, WebEx or equivalent, Snag It or equivalent
      • Knowledge of online learning tools, Captivate or Articulate, Photoshop, Adobe Suite and knowledge of basic HTML is preferred
    • Abilities
      • Proactive, self-starter with the ability to work independently or in a close team environment
      • Effective project management, time management and organizational skills
    • Attributes
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (i.e., consulting, presentation, facilitation)
      • Proficient interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective relationships at all levels within the organization, specifically to work effectively with frontline employees


    Working Conditions:


    The Learning Consultant will be working in a traditional office environment and may be subject to special working conditions as needed by the business. Special working conditions may cover a range of circumstances from regular evening and weekend work, overtime, shift work, working outdoors and/or working with challenging clients.  On occasion, overnight travel may be required to meet the needs of the business
