    DEPARTMENT SUMMARY:

    The Information Technology (IT) department manages the technology and computer infrastructure that drives Tangerine’s business systems. The IT department supports the organization in these critical areas: End-User Technical Support, Desktop Management, Network Management, Voice and Data Communications, Business and Web Applications and Strategic Technical Planning.

    ROLE PURPOSE:

    The Technical Lead is responsible for the technical aspects of a solution introduced into the Tangerine architecture. The Technical Lead performs a variety of duties to analyze, develop, maintain, test, debug, implement, document and support applications that are implemented as part of projects or other initiatives.

    The Technical Lead of Software Development will report directly to a Leader on the IT Development team.

    MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Provide technical guidance and leadership for development teams responsible for the for the specific areas of development which may include any/all of the following: Tangerine Banking Systems, Hybrid Mobile Development (iOS, Android, Angular JS and IBM MobileFirst Platform)
    • Uses expert-level knowledge of analysis, web design, programming techniques, online development tools and database technologies to develop software applications to meet business requirements and Tangerine standards.
    • Ensure 7x24 availability of all mobile applications, internet sites, intranet sites, banking system and other applications.
    • Responsible for the overall system design of initiative-based solutions
    • Prepares and maintains a variety of technical documentation.
    • Reviews requirements and prepares estimates for the overall technical solution.
    • Performs a wide range of tasks to ensure that Software Developers are adequately testing applications, including the implementation of unit and system test plans, test data and conditions.
    • Mentor developers and provide technical guidance for the development team.
    • Perform code reviews and ensure team members follow best practices in development.
    • Ensure technical designs adhere to architectural standards and guidelines
    • Reviews deliverables with IT Management staff for completeness and accuracy.
    • Actively participates in the implementation activities as required.
    • Communicates complex issues clearly and concisely to the appropriate team members and/or manager.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:                                                                                                                                                  

    • Education/Experience
      • University or College Degree or equivalent experience
      • minimum 5+ years of demonstrated hands-on experience in various areas of software development
      • 3+ years of demonstrated experience as a senior software developer with a focus on supporting large scale enterprise and/or mobile applications
      • 3+ year of hands on experience in the software development and/or web application framework and/or development and maintenance of hybrid mobile applications
    • Technical Skills
      • In-depth knowledge of software development lifecycle (Agile Scrum and Continuous Integration and Development) and strong understanding of development techniques and methodologies
      • Expertise in software development and/or mobile application framework (e.g. AngularJS, Apache Cordova, IBM MobileFirst Platform, etc.)
      • Use of source code management tools such as GIT
    • Abilities
      • Ability to maintain expert knowledge in software development methodologies and processes to ensure that Tangerine is well positioned to take advantage of technology solutions and offerings
      • Ability to take a hands-on role in resolving technical issues and supporting software environments as part of maintaining the skills necessary to manage and advocate products and projects
      • Ability to maintain an in-depth understanding of technological advances and trends that impact the global banking industry
      • Ability to produce technical level documentation with a high degree of proficiency and accuracy
      • Highly experienced in enterprise application delivery

    WORKING CONDITIONS:                                  

    The Technical Lead of Software Development will be working in a traditional office environment and may be subject to special working conditions as needed by the business. Special working conditions may cover a range of circumstances from regular evening and weekend work, overtime, shift work, working outdoors and/or working with challenging clients.
