Job Description

DEPARTMENT SUMMARY:

The Tangerine Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining the Tangerine FIU Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorist Financing and Sanctions Program. Tangerine Bank is subject to, and must comply with many Regulations promulgated by governments, regulators and self-regulating bodies. The Department is responsible for ensuring that Tangerine remains compliant with regulatory expectations as well as head office minimum standards. The Department is also responsible for ensuring adherence to sanctions regulations. 

JOB SUMMARY

The Manager, FIU Programs reports to the Director of FIU. The Manager is responsible for providing support to the FIU by overseeing and coordinating reporting, managing internal and regulatory reviews as well as providing AML training. The Manager will be responsible for the preparation of monthly and quarterly reports to various internal and external stakeholders. The incumbent will manage and coordinate any FIU risk assessments, audits and regulatory reviews as well as provide support to implement regulatory initiatives. The Manager will be responsible for engaging in AML Projects and providing input into AML Training and Communications.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for understanding and complying with the Regulatory Compliance Framework and the Scotiabank Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorist Financing and Sanctions Handbook and all AML related policies, procedures and controls within the department
  • Act as an FIU subject matter expert on projects, initiatives and risk assessments
  • Identify emerging AML regulatory risks to ensure appropriate FIU processes are in place to ensure risk is appropriately mitigated
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements
  • Manage internal and external audit examinations and preparatory efforts; identifying, tracking and managing any identified gaps or action items to completion
  • Communicate and coordinate any new regulatory developments to the team
  • Provide training to the FIU and other business units on AML processes
  • Manage and oversee the monthly and quarterly reporting of FIU statistics
  • Review and monitor FIU processes and controls to determine their effectiveness.
  • Ensure FIU procedure documents are kept up to date.
  • Manage regular and ad hoc reporting for management, Head Office and the Board
  • Oversee and consolidate FIU metrics and reporting
  • Other duties as assigned

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education/Experience
    • University or College Degree in related field
    • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in the Financial Services industry
    • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in AML/ATF and Sanctions

  • Professional Certification
    • CAMS designation is an asset

  • Specialized Knowledge
    • Detailed knowledge of AML/ATF and Sanctions regulatory standards

  • Abilities
    • Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks simultaneously
    • Ability to work well with deadlines

WORKING CONDITIONS:                                  

The Manager, FIU Programs will be working in a traditional office environment and may be subject to special working conditions as needed by the business. Special working conditions may cover a range of circumstances from regular evening and weekend work, overtime, shift work, working outdoors and/or working with challenging clients.
